Chloro

My senior industrial design project asked, "How might we maintain natural elements in our homes in an ever-advancing technological world?” This question led me to create Chloro, an entertainment product that blends processes in natural elements with modern-day technologies. The project began with research into emerging biotech use in cities and homes. I was particularly inspired by a company, Bioo Technology, that used photosynthesis to harness power. I used this idea to drive my design for a product that would integrate everyday home technology and mask it as a natural element in the home. I honed in on the entertainment side of technology in the household, such as lighting and speakers. I leaned on plant elements to drive my form. The final design has three flower petal shapes and a speaker that portrays the shape of a river stone. An opening is left for the user to place plants within the form. The plant, using Bioo Technology, then powers the Chloro speaker. Taking this design further, I integrated Chloro into an outdoor feature where the user could use their lawn as a power source for Chloro in the household (shown below).
